About this package

Tiredness in pregnancy often comes from either anaemia or an underactive thyroid, and both are treatable. This panel examines the blood count and iron studies for iron deficiency, folic acid and B12 for the vitamin causes, and TSH for the thyroid. CRP is added to show whether inflammation might be raising ferritin or altering results. The findings guide supplements and thyroid medicine, if any is needed.

A pregnancy anaemia and thyroid screen: iron studies, folic acid, B12, TSH, CRP and a blood count.

What does this package cover?

The 6 tests are grouped into 4 health areas:

Blood count & inflammation 2 tests

Red cells, white cells and platelets, blood group, and general inflammation markers.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)

RBC count, haemoglobin, haematocrit, WBC count with differential (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils), platelet count, and red-cell indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC).

  • CRP (C-Reactive Protein)

The level of C-reactive protein circulating in the blood, which rises within hours of an inflammatory trigger.

Iron & anaemia 1 test

Iron stores and red-cell production - the commonest causes of anaemia and tiredness.

  • Iron Studies

Serum iron, TIBC, UIBC (unsaturated iron-binding capacity), transferrin saturation percentage, and ferritin (the body’s iron-storage protein).

Thyroid 1 test

Thyroid hormones and antibodies - an under- or over-active thyroid affects weight, energy, mood and heart rate.

  • TSH Ultrasensitive

TSH Ultrasensitive is a blood test. A single, highly sensitive thyroid-stimulating hormone test to screen thyroid function.

Vitamins, bone & minerals 2 tests

Vitamin D, B12, folate and the minerals and hormones that keep bones and nerves healthy.

  • Folic acid

The concentration of folate in the blood.

  • Vitamin B12

    Serum vitamin B12 (cobalamin) concentration.

6 tests included (34 parameters)

Why consider this package?

  • Pathologist-reviewed reports shared online

Who is this package for?

Designed for

Women

Age group

All ages

Purpose

Health screening

Pregnant women who feel exhausted, look pale, are losing hair or have a history of thyroid disease.

How often should you get it done?

Once, and again in the third trimester or as your gynaecologist advises.

Not everyone needs every test. Whether this package suits you depends on your age, symptoms, family history and any ongoing treatment - your doctor can advise.

What can you learn from this package?

The package can provide information about:

  • Blood count & inflammation - Complete Blood Count (CBC) and CRP (C-Reactive Protein)
  • Iron & anaemia - Iron Studies
  • Thyroid - TSH Ultrasensitive
  • Vitamins, bone & minerals - Folic acid and Vitamin B12

A package gives individual results for each test - it does not diagnose disease by itself.

How to prepare

  • Fast for 8 to 10 hours before the sample - plain water is allowed. An early-morning slot makes this easier.
  • Drink water as usual, and avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours before.
  • Take your regular medicines unless your doctor advises otherwise, and tell the phlebotomist what you take.
  • Wear a loose-sleeved top so the blood sample can be collected easily.

Understanding your package report

Your report lists the result of each test separately, with its own unit and reference range. Values outside the range are highlighted.

There is no single overall "health score" - each result is read on its own and then together with the others. One out-of-range value is not a diagnosis, and a normal report does not guarantee you are completely healthy.

Share the report with your doctor, who will interpret it with your symptoms and history. Call us if you need help reading it.
