About this package

Anaemia is common in kidney disease because failing kidneys make less erythropoietin, the hormone that drives red cell production. This panel looks at both sides of the problem. The blood count shows the anaemia, iron studies show whether iron is also short, and the kidney function test and urine routine show how much the kidneys are involved. Calcium is added as a basic mineral check. Results help your doctor decide whether iron, erythropoietin or other treatment is the right answer.

A kidney-related anaemia panel: iron studies, calcium, kidney function, urine examination and a blood count.

What does this package cover?

The 5 tests are grouped into 5 health areas:

Blood count & inflammation 1 test

Red cells, white cells and platelets, blood group, and general inflammation markers.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)

RBC count, haemoglobin, haematocrit, WBC count with differential (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils), platelet count, and red-cell indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC).

Iron & anaemia 1 test

Iron stores and red-cell production - the commonest causes of anaemia and tiredness.

  • Iron Studies

Serum iron, TIBC, UIBC (unsaturated iron-binding capacity), transferrin saturation percentage, and ferritin (the body’s iron-storage protein).

Kidney & electrolytes 1 test

How well your kidneys filter waste, plus the salts (electrolytes) they keep in balance.

  • Kidney Function Test

Blood urea/BUN, serum creatinine, eGFR (estimated glomerular filtration rate), uric acid, sodium, potassium, chloride, and calcium.

Vitamins, bone & minerals 1 test

Vitamin D, B12, folate and the minerals and hormones that keep bones and nerves healthy.

  • Calcium

Calcium is a blood test. Calcium is a diagnostic laboratory test carried out on a blood sample. Your doctor may advise it to screen for, diagnose or monitor a related condition, with results reported against standard reference ranges.

Urine 1 test

Routine urine analysis for infection, sugar, protein and kidney clues.

  • Urine Routine & Microscopic Examination

Physical characteristics (colour, clarity), chemical markers (protein, glucose, ketones, blood, pH), and microscopic examination for cells, crystals, casts and bacteria in a urine sample.

5 tests included (64 parameters)

Why consider this package?

  • 5 laboratory investigations in one booking
  • Looks at 5 health areas together, not in isolation
  • All samples collected in a single home visit
  • One price, one report set
  • Useful for preventive screening, or when your doctor wants these tests together
  • Pathologist-reviewed reports shared online

Who is this package for?

Designed for

Men & women

Age group

All ages

Purpose

Health screening

People with known kidney disease who are tired, pale or breathless, and people with unexplained anaemia who may have kidney involvement.

How often should you get it done?

Every three to six months in kidney disease, or as advised.

Not everyone needs every test. Whether this package suits you depends on your age, symptoms, family history and any ongoing treatment - your doctor can advise.

What can you learn from this package?

The package can provide information about:

  • Blood count & inflammation - Complete Blood Count (CBC)
  • Iron & anaemia - Iron Studies
  • Kidney & electrolytes - Kidney Function Test
  • Vitamins, bone & minerals - Calcium
  • Urine - Urine Routine & Microscopic Examination

A package gives individual results for each test - it does not diagnose disease by itself.

How to prepare

  • Fast for 8 to 10 hours before the sample - plain water is allowed. An early-morning slot makes this easier.
  • Drink water as usual, and avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours before.
  • Take your regular medicines unless your doctor advises otherwise, and tell the phlebotomist what you take.
  • For the urine test, a first-morning, mid-stream sample in the sterile container we provide is best.
  • Wear a loose-sleeved top so the blood sample can be collected easily.

Understanding your package report

Your report lists the result of each test separately, with its own unit and reference range. Values outside the range are highlighted.

There is no single overall "health score" - each result is read on its own and then together with the others. One out-of-range value is not a diagnosis, and a normal report does not guarantee you are completely healthy.

Share the report with your doctor, who will interpret it with your symptoms and history. Call us if you need help reading it.

Frequently asked questions

Why is iron tested separately in kidney disease?

Many patients are low in iron as well as erythropoietin, and correcting iron often improves anaemia. The studies show which is needed.

Why fast for this panel?

Iron levels in the blood vary with meals, so a fast of eight to ten hours with water gives a steadier reading.

Can anaemia from kidney disease be treated?

Yes, with iron, erythropoietin injections and other measures chosen by your nephrologist.
