About this package

When anaemia is persistent, unexplained or runs in the family, a panel that covers everything saves repeated visits. It includes iron studies, B12, folic acid and vitamin D for nutrition, the smear and reticulocyte count for a direct look at the cells and the marrow response, and a thyroid profile because an underactive thyroid causes mild anaemia. The hemoglobinopathy profile is the distinctive part: it looks for variants such as HbS and raised HbF, which help identify thalassaemia trait and sickle conditions. These matter for families planning pregnancy, since carriers can have affected children even when they feel perfectly well.

The most complete anaemia panel: nutrients, smear, reticulocytes, haemoglobin variants and thyroid, with vitamin D.

What does this package cover?

The 9 tests are grouped into 5 health areas:

Blood count & inflammation 2 tests

Red cells, white cells and platelets, blood group, and general inflammation markers.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)

RBC count, haemoglobin, haematocrit, WBC count with differential (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils), platelet count, and red-cell indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC).

  • Hemoglobinopathies Profile - HbF/HbS

Hemoglobinopathies Profile - HbF/HbS is a blood test. Hemoglobinopathies Profile - HbF/HbS is used in the work-up of anaemia to understand blood-cell production and iron status.

Iron & anaemia 2 tests

Iron stores and red-cell production - the commonest causes of anaemia and tiredness.

  • Iron Studies

Serum iron, TIBC, UIBC (unsaturated iron-binding capacity), transferrin saturation percentage, and ferritin (the body’s iron-storage protein).

  • Reticulocyte Count

The percentage or absolute count of reticulocytes - red blood cells that are less than a few days old.

Thyroid 1 test

Thyroid hormones and antibodies - an under- or over-active thyroid affects weight, energy, mood and heart rate.

  • Thyroid Profile (T3, T4, TSH)

Total/Free T3 (triiodothyronine), Total/Free T4 (thyroxine), and TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone, produced by the pituitary gland to regulate the thyroid).

Vitamins, bone & minerals 3 tests

Vitamin D, B12, folate and the minerals and hormones that keep bones and nerves healthy.

  • Folic acid

The concentration of folate in the blood.

  • Vitamin B12

    Serum vitamin B12 (cobalamin) concentration.

  • Vitamin D (25-OH)

25-hydroxyvitamin D (the combined D2 + D3 form), which is the most accurate indicator of overall vitamin D status in the body.

Other tests 1 test

Additional tests included in this package.

  • Peripheral blood smear (PBS)

Peripheral blood smear (PBS) is a blood test. Peripheral blood smear (PBS) is used in the work-up of anaemia to understand blood-cell production and iron status.

9 tests included (43 parameters)

Why consider this package?

  • 9 laboratory investigations in one booking
  • Looks at 5 health areas together, not in isolation
  • All samples collected in a single home visit
  • Costs ₹1,292 less than booking the tests separately
  • Useful for preventive screening, or when your doctor wants these tests together
  • Pathologist-reviewed reports shared online

Who is this package for?

Designed for

Men & women

Age group

All ages

Purpose

Health screening

People with anaemia that does not respond to treatment, a family history of thalassaemia or sickle cell disease, couples planning pregnancy, or small red cells with normal iron.

How often should you get it done?

Usually once. Haemoglobin variants do not change, so that part rarely needs repeating.

Not everyone needs every test. Whether this package suits you depends on your age, symptoms, family history and any ongoing treatment - your doctor can advise.

What can you learn from this package?

The package can provide information about:

  • Blood count & inflammation - Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Hemoglobinopathies Profile - HbF/HbS
  • Iron & anaemia - Iron Studies and Reticulocyte Count
  • Thyroid - Thyroid Profile (T3, T4, TSH)
  • Vitamins, bone & minerals - Folic acid, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D (25-OH)
  • Other tests - Peripheral blood smear (PBS)

A package gives individual results for each test - it does not diagnose disease by itself.

How to prepare

  • Fast for 8 to 10 hours before the sample - plain water is allowed. An early-morning slot makes this easier.
  • Drink water as usual, and avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours before.
  • Take your regular medicines unless your doctor advises otherwise, and tell the phlebotomist what you take.
  • Wear a loose-sleeved top so the blood sample can be collected easily.

Understanding your package report

Your report lists the result of each test separately, with its own unit and reference range. Values outside the range are highlighted.

There is no single overall "health score" - each result is read on its own and then together with the others. One out-of-range value is not a diagnosis, and a normal report does not guarantee you are completely healthy.

Share the report with your doctor, who will interpret it with your symptoms and history. Call us if you need help reading it.

Frequently asked questions

Why test for haemoglobin variants?

Inherited variants like thalassaemia trait and sickle trait cause small red cells and mild anaemia that iron tablets will not fix. Knowing your status also matters for family planning.

Should my partner be tested too?

If you are a carrier and planning a pregnancy, your doctor will usually advise testing your partner, because the risk to a child depends on both parents.

Is fasting needed?

Yes, eight to ten hours with water allowed, for accurate iron readings.

Why is thyroid included in an anaemia panel?

An underactive thyroid slows red cell production and can cause a mild anaemia. Checking it avoids chasing the wrong cause.
